Happy Mother’s Day! – first maternity for the Yamauchi’s

To my joy, when I stayed in Japan last time, I had a great opportunity to photograph a beautiful couple, Mrs. & Mr. Yamauchi expecting their first baby on May 22!

Actually Mamiko went to the same school as mine in our teenage although it was the first time to see her and surprisingly, her best friend knows my husband.

She had a very difficult time during the first long stage of her maternity and could not go out almost at all but she enjoyed to go shopping looking for her outfits for the shooting once she felt better… and yes! As you can see, she was soooooooo beautiful!!!!!

We asked her husband to leave the room first and we did her shooting alone. Actually it was very fun! It was a kind of “girls’ school” atmosphere and we chatted a lot, talked about girls things, etc.

When I took her tummy with her hands on like a heart shape, she really loved it and she asked her husband to do the same thing with his hands on her hands, he said “Oh! Girls…” :P

Yes, we are girls and we will stay always like this no matter how old we get, and … you will be a father of a baby girl very soon :D

うれしいことに先日日本に帰国していた際に、5月に最初のお子さまとご対面することになるステキなyamauchiご夫妻を撮影する機会に恵まれました。

実はお目にかかるのは初めてでしたが、mamikoさんは私の後輩でもあり、また彼女の親友にあたるお友達が私の夫を知っているといううれしい偶然も♪

彼女は妊娠初期から中期にかけてずいぶんとつわりなどがひどくて、ご自宅から一歩も出られないほどだったようなのですが、とても撮影を楽しみにしてくださっていて、体調がよくなると撮影用のお洋服を探しにショッピングに行ってくださったりと、準備の時間もとても楽しんでくれたみたい。そしてそして…、ご覧いただいているように、本当にきれいなプレ・ママでしたよ～！！！

まずは彼女とふたりだけで撮影をするため、nobuhiroさんにお部屋を出ていただいたのですが、これがと～っても楽しかった～！まるで女子校時代に戻ったかのようにおしゃべりをして、ガールズ・トークをしながらの撮影となりましたよ：)

私が彼女のお腹を撮影するとき、手をハート型になるようにお腹の上に置いていただいたのですが、mamikoさんがこれをとても気に入ってくれて、nobuhiroさんが戻ってこられてから一緒に同じことをしてほしいとお願いすると、「あ～、これだから女子は…」とおっしゃっていました（苦笑）。

そう。私たちは永遠の女子ですから、いくつになってもこのままなのですよね～。そしてnobuhiroさんも、もうすぐ女の子のパパになるんですよ～:P

というわけで、明日は母の日。ママとして初めての母の日になるのかしら。すてきなすてきな週末になりますように♥

My Solo Exhibition at DFS Galleria Guam!

To my joy, I am one of the “Artisans of Guam” and my solo exhibition at DFS Galleria Guam has started last Monday.

DFS features various kinds of artists living on / originally from Guam every 4 weeks and give them a fabulous occasion to show their arts. This is a very valuable thing for us because we don’t have almost any gallery or museum on this island and the artists always need a place to exhibit their arts. I really appreciate for it!!!

I display 6 collections and matted reprints are also available in several sizes:

I hope real and beautiful images of this island through my eyes are well reflected on photography and all of you are going to enjoy it!!

I will try to be there after 19:30 almost everyday to talk with you although the exhibit is open from 10am to 11pm everyday at the food & candy area at DFS.

うれしいことに、DFS Galleria Guam（DFSギャラリア・グアム）にて先日の月曜日から個展が始まりました♪

これは“Artisan of Guam（アーティザン・オブ・グアム）”として、DFSが4週間ごとにさまざまなグアム在住、またはグアム出身のアーティストを招聘して個展の機会を与えてくれるというプログラム。この島にはほとんどギャラリーや美術館がないので、これはアーティストにとってとても貴重でありがたい機会で、心からDFSに感謝しています。

今回は6つのコレクションを発表し、キャンバスやウッド・ボード・パネルにプリントしたものを展示。またご自宅などでそのままディスプレイしていただいても、フレームに入れていただいてもいいように、マットボード加工を施したプリントも30種類ほど、それぞれいくつかのサイズでご用意しております。

Happy Wedding! – Mr. & Mrs. Suzuki

The bride, Kanako gave me a mail in May last year, few months after she had got married with Yasuhiro. They wanted to ask me to photograph their happiest moments with a wedding dress on Guam, which is an unforgettable place for them.

First, she just wanted to make it very simple just with her wedding dress but without flowers, make-up either tuxedo for the groom. But we had exchanged more than 60 mails (!!) to discuss about what to wear, where to photograph… and we finally decided to prepare a round bouquet with white plumeria and small blue flowers and a matching boutonniere, ask a stylist for her hair and make-up. We also tried to have a photo shooting in a hotel room with a great view and beautiful sunlight as well as a spacious park with many palm trees adding an island taste on the photos :D

Mr. & Mrs. Suzuki are a very charming and loving couple! Although many Japanese people are not used to kiss in front of someone and very shy, they were very nice kissers and I always enjoy photographing them giving a warm look and kissing! Moreover, it was great that it seemed that they were really having fun during the shooting and especially Kanako had a very beautiful expressive face so I could not stop myself taking pictures ;P

We also had a dinner after the shooting and spent almost a whole day together…it was so much fun!

Congratulations again and have a wonderful marriage life :D

新婦のカナコさんから最初のメールをいただいたのは去年の5月頃。ちょうどおふたりがご結婚された少しあとでした。おふたりにとって思い出の土地でもあるグアムでウェディング・ドレスを着て、しあわせな瞬間を写真に残したいというご依頼でした。

最初はウェディング・ドレスだけでお花もヘア・メイクもなしでヤスヒロさんもアロハにジーズンでシンプルに…ということだったのですが、60通以上のメールのやり取りをしながら少しずつ何をお召になられるか、どこでどのような撮影をするかなどをご相談させていただき、結局カナコさんの大好きな白いプルメリアに青い小花を散らしたブーケとブートニアを用意し、プロのスタイリストさんにヘア・メイクをお願いすることに。撮影も眺めがよく、またきれいな自然光の入るホテルの一室で撮影をしたあと、立ち並ぶ椰子の木がいかにも南国風な広い公園に移動しました♪

とにかくスズキご夫妻はとてもチャーミングで、愛情あふれるカップル！日本の方はやはり人前でキスをするのを恥ずかしがられることが多いですが、おふたりはとてもすてきな“Kisser（キスが上手なひと）”で、いつもやさしく眼差しを交わし、キスをしてくださるので、私も撮影していても楽しくて仕方ありません！さらにおふたりとも撮影を楽しんでくださっている様子が感じられ、特にカナコさんがとても表情豊かな方で、私も撮影の手を止めることができませんでした：P

撮影後は一緒にお食事もご一緒させていただき、ほとんど丸一日時間をともにしたのですが、とても思い出深い楽しい時間になりました！

ご結婚、本当におめでとうございます。すてきなマリッジ・ライフを♪

Casual Wedding + Family Portraits – The Uchida’s

Mr. & Mrs. Uchida had already had their wedding in Japan, but they was always eager to have their wedding on the beach and asked me to photograph them when they visited to Guam :D

They wanted to make it very casual with island taste as it had been already several years after they married and they had 2 lovely daughters but add a little bit of wedding taste. The wife wanted to wear a white simple dress and a colorful garland so I arranged hair pieces with the same flowers of the mothers for their daughters and a bracelet with ivy for the husband. And… how cute are they!!!!

They always laughed together, gave each other a warm look and I was really happy to be with them and photograph them :)

I hope they enjoyed their wedding on the beach with their wonderful daughters and displayed their Portrait Wall Art canvases at home forever!

内田ご夫妻は何年も前に日本で結婚式を挙げていらっしゃいましたが、大好きな海の目の前でウェディングをするのが夢だったということで、グアムにいらっしゃった時に撮影をしてほしいとご依頼いただきました。

もう結婚後何年も経っているし、とてもかわいらしいお子さんもおふたりいらっしゃるので、あくまでもカジュアルに南国テイストでということでしたが、そこに少しだけウェディングの要素を足すことができたら…ということで、特に奥さまは白いシンプルなドレスにカラフルな花冠をご希望だったので、6歳と1歳8ヶ月のお嬢さまにはお母様と同じお花で作ったヘアピースを、ご主人さまにはアイビーのブレスレットをお作りして撮影に望みましたよ♪　そしてそして…皆さん本当にお似合いですよね！！！！！

内田家の皆さまはいつも本当によく笑い、お互いにとても温かい眼差しを向け合う、本当にすてきなご家族で、私も撮影させていただいてとてもとてもハッピーな気持ちになりました：)

念願のビーチでの、しかもとてもかわいらしいお子さんもご一緒のウェディング、楽しんでいただけたらとてもうれしいな～。そしてご家族のお写真で2枚のキャンバスをお作りさせていただきましたが、こちらもいつまでもご自宅に飾っていただけたらうれしいです♪

Thanks For Coming To The Exhibits In March!

Thank you very much for coming to the exhibits held in March, “The 7th Annual Women’s Art Show” at the Infiniti Art Gallery Nissan Showroom and “The 14th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair” at Tasi Ballroom at Nikko Hotel! I had had many exhibits before but it was the first time to communicate with people visiting the exhibits and talk about photography, art and my works face to face, so I really enjoyed these opportunities :D

Although it happened that my new artworks had not been arrived from the States for ”The 7th Annual Women’s Art Show”, it was a great opportunity to exhibit at the Women’s Art Show one of my favorite Portrait Arts for the Tokito Family, “Shanti Collection” and “Ports of Call”, which are / had been displayed at Infusion Tea & Coffee and Pika’s Cafe. In addition, it was my big pleasure that many locals and Japanese enjoyed and took back to home the flowers and the scenery photographed in this beautiful island at Arts & Crafts Fair. I felt like I married my daughters off… :)

I have another solo exhibit at DFS Galleria Guam from April 30 till May 27 and will be there in the evenings every Thursday and Saturday. I hope to see you there with my collections!

先日開催された『第7回ウーマンズ・アート・ショー』と『第14回アート&クラフトフェア』にいらしてくださった皆さま、本当にどうもありがとうございました！これまで個展や展示はいろいろと行なってきましたが、展示に来てくださる方々と言葉を交わしたり、写真やアート、私の作品などについてフェイス・トゥー・フェイスでお話しできたのは初めての経験だったので、とても楽しかった～！

実は思いがけず、アメリカ本土のラボでキャンバス・プリントをお願いしていた新作が海を彷徨ってしまってウーマンズ・アート・ショーまでに到着しないなど、本当にハラハラ・ドキドキすることも多かったのですが、結果的にウーマンズ・アート・ショーでは私のお気に入りの作品のひとつとなっているトキトウ家のポートレート・アートやInfusion Coffee & Teaに展示している“シャンティ・コレクション”、Pika’s Cafeに展示していた“ポーツ・オブ・コール”など、これまでの作品を再度展示でき、とてもいい機会になりました♪　またアート&クラフトフェアでは多くのローカルの方たちや日本人の方たちにお花や景色などのウォール・アート写真を楽しんでいただき、またご自宅やオフィス用にお持ち帰りいただき、とてもうれしかったです。この展示会で展示・販売した作品はすべてグアムで撮影したものでしたが、結構多くの方に、全部グアムで撮影したの！？と驚かれたりしたのもおもしろかったです。まぁ、作品をお持ち帰りいただくときは娘をお嫁に出すような気持ちになるのですけれどね…：)

来月4月30日から5月27日まではDFS Galleria Guam（DFSギャラリア・グアム）にて“アーティザン・オブ・グアム”のひとりとして個展と作品の販売を行います♪　毎週木曜日と土曜日の夜7時から10時までは会場におりますので、ぜひお声がけくださいね！
